Shawna:

I'm guessing you might have taken a personality test or two through

Shawna:

work, curiosity, part of a program when you were in school, whether it's

Shawna:

the Meyer, Briggs, the enneagram, DISC, or one of the various others.

Shawna:

There's lots of different measures people have created to help us

Shawna:

learn a little more about ourselves.

Shawna:

I'm intrigued by each and every one of these.

Shawna:

I'm not looking for cookie cutters.

Shawna:

I'm all about tools that can help us have different ways of looking

Shawna:

at ourselves, our experiences and about the way we react to things.

Shawna:

This is why I was so excited to connect with today's guest, Megan Seamans, and

Shawna:

learn about her expertise in human design.

Shawna:

Welcome to The Grit Show growth on purpose.

Shawna:

I'm glad you found us.

Shawna:

I'm Shawna Rodrigues, and I'm honored to be leading you on today's journey

Shawna:

as part of this community growing together as seekers and thrivers.

Shawna:

Today, we're gonna talk more about human design and living on purpose.

Shawna:

I'm sure you already know that living on purpose is something we

Shawna:

care deeply about on The Grit Show something we'll talk about often

Shawna:

human design is a newer concept.

Shawna:

It was just a term I'd heard in passing.

Shawna:

I like the sound of it though.

Shawna:

I walked into it with a completely blank slate and I hope you do as well.

Shawna:

Even if you don't connect with exactly how your profile is determined.

Shawna:

I think there's a lot to be gained in learning about the various types and

Shawna:

seeing what speaks to you, especially with the way Megan shares it.

Shawna:

Megan is a certified energy coach and human design guide.

Shawna:

She's a creator of rooted and wild, which you get to hear a little more about.

Shawna:

She supports people to tap into their magic and confidently lead

Shawna:

their life without people pleasing, fear or doubt standing in their way.

Shawna:

Thank you so much for being here today, Megan.

Megan:

I'm so excited.

Megan:

I've been so excited all week for this conversation.

Shawna:

Yay.

Shawna:

I love it.

Shawna:

I love it.

Shawna:

I'm so glad you're here.

Shawna:

And I'm also excited because we squeezed this adventure in, because Megan is

Shawna:

about to go on an even bigger adventure.

Shawna:

Do you wanna share with us where you're headed next week?

Megan:

I am.

Megan:

I have my one way ticket booked over to Scotland with little to no plans.

Megan:

The adventure takes me.

Shawna:

That is a great way to do it.

Shawna:

I love it.

Shawna:

And as we get to know her better, we're gonna learn how that folds

Shawna:

into her fabulous philosophy.

Shawna:

So where are you today?

Shawna:

Where are you talking to us from?

Megan:

Right now I'm in sunny, Orlando, Florida.

Megan:

Uh, yes.

Megan:

Trading the sunshine for the unpredictable Scottish weather.

Shawna:

there you go.

Shawna:

Well, it's getting to be a little too warm, probably Good time to trade.

Shawna:

I'm sure when it comes like next February, you'll be wondering what

Shawna:

it's like in Orlando, but right now it's not a bad time to trade.

Megan:

That's right.

Shawna:

We had a brief conversation before we started and Megan got to learn

Shawna:

that I know nothing about human design.

Shawna:

And so I am very excited about this conversation, cuz I am learning

Shawna:

right along with all of you about human design and how it connects

Shawna:

with being able to live on purpose and how it connects to all of us.

Shawna:

So Megan, why don't you share with us?

Shawna:

Get us started, teach us about human design.

Megan:

I love it.

Megan:

So human design is literally the study of differentiation.

Megan:

So how all human beings are different.

Megan:

So there's actually 2 billion different configurations of a human design chart.

Megan:

Right?

Megan:

I know

Shawna:

Yes.

Shawna:

That's a lot.

Shawna:

That's definitely different then personality charts.

Megan:

Yes.

Megan:

I've yet to see two charts that are the same, and I kind of love it.

Megan:

That's what made me fall in love with human design, because it

Megan:

really has this way of bringing your unique contrasts in where I was

Megan:

taking all these personality tests.

Megan:

And it would say I was an introvert on like Myer Briggs,

Megan:

but then, my astrology's Leo.

Megan:

And so I'm like, how do I put those together?

Megan:

Like, how am I this bold Leo, but also this introvert.

Megan:

And every time I took the enneagram, I tested as something different.

Megan:

And so I was so confused and human design really brings these

Megan:

contrasts in and it shows me.

Megan:

All of those results and the personality tests and different

Megan:

modalities they're correct.

Megan:

For me, human design just brought in those contrasts and showed me

Megan:

how they can all weave together.

Megan:

And so really what it is is it's your energetic blueprint.

Megan:

It shows you how your energy is made to show up with the least amount of

Megan:

resistance and the most amount of ease.

Megan:

I sound like a broken record in my human design sessions because I'm like,

Megan:

it's all about the amount of ease.

Megan:

I'm just constantly weaving that in.

Megan:

It is, it's such a gift.

Megan:

And it just it's like a permission slip.

Megan:

It's like coming back home.

Megan:

It's never brand new information.

Megan:

It's like a coming back home to, oh yeah.

Megan:

That's me like.

Megan:

I can feel that.

Megan:

So how it pulls that is from your birthday time and location.

Megan:

So it never changes.

Megan:

It's really your soul's essence.

Megan:

And it pulls from different modalities you've likely heard of before, like

Megan:

astrology, the chakra system, the ancient eyeing Cabala, and some quantum physics

Megan:

to bring together your human design.

Shawna:

That's amazing.

Shawna:

So how long, cause, it's a buzzword that I've heard at least the last

Shawna:

few years, but I'm guessing it's been around a lot longer than that.

Megan:

So the system came together actually in the eighties.

Megan:

So not too long.

Megan:

However, of course, all of the different, modalities that kind of

Megan:

come into play are ancient wisdoms.

Megan:

So yeah.

Shawna:

So when did you stumble onto it?

Shawna:

How did you come to be connected to human design and learn all about it?

Megan:

Yeah.

Megan:

So I kind of, the first time I found human design, I was

Megan:

like, nah, that's not for me.

Megan:

Like.

Shawna:

A little too?

Shawna:

Hmm.

Megan:

Exactly.

Megan:

Exactly what I felt.

Megan:

I was like my birthday.

Megan:

Like you can't tell me anything about me by just my birthday.

Megan:

And I kind of like fought it for a bit.

Shawna:

yes, well in the location.

Shawna:

Cause I'm like, so if my mom would've been traveling, when I was

Shawna:

born, I'd be a different person.

Shawna:

Tell me more.

Megan:

Yes all the birthday time location it all can shift what

Megan:

shows up in your design, especially in those kind of smaller layers.

Megan:

There's kind of the main layer you'll usually hear about in your human

Megan:

design is your human design type.

Megan:

And that's definitely something we can talk about today.

Megan:

And there's so many small layers underneath that.

Megan:

If you're born in a different location, if you're born in a

Megan:

different hour, it's all about how the energy was moving through the

Megan:

universe at that time in that location.

Megan:

Yeah.

Megan:

It's, it's a little mystical.

Megan:

It's a little wild and the more I sit with people and have those

Megan:

moments of like, oh yes, that's me.

Megan:

The more I'm like, okay.

Megan:

It doesn't have to fully make sense.

Megan:

It..

Shawna:

It just is.

Megan:

Yes, exactly.

Megan:

Exactly.

Megan:

So I fought it , for a while and a lot of clients kept asking me, do you

Megan:

know about this human design thing?

Megan:

Have you heard of this human design thing?

Megan:

Can you tell me about it?

Megan:

And so the more and more and more nudges I got the more I was

Megan:

like, okay, let me look into it.

Shawna:

if you insist, I'll learn about this.

Shawna:

And I love it because.

Shawna:

She both talked about how wild it is, but it's also rooted in science.

Shawna:

And later

Shawna:

on, we're going to learn that she has a program that's rooted and wild.

Shawna:

That totally connects that

Shawna:

Even better than she realizes.

Shawna:

It all comes together.

Shawna:

So, and because I hadn't heard of it, I've heard of human design had no clue, it was

Shawna:

connected to my birthdate and to where I was born and the time that I was born.

Shawna:

I knew my birthday.

Shawna:

I knew where I was born, but the time of my birth is a question mark.

Shawna:

So we tried, I called my dad and got his voicemail and my partner just sent me

Shawna:

a note that he did not successfully find my birth certificate, but he's an angel

Shawna:

cuz he went looking for it and my desk is a scary place So he did not find it

Shawna:

successfully, but we tried to do that.

Shawna:

I'm now intrigued.

Shawna:

So I'm gonna have to definitely , find out for sure for Megan, what mine is.

Shawna:

Cuz I'm intrigued by this now, too.

Shawna:

I want to find how it all fits together.

Shawna:

So with your clients, is that usually your first step is to get that

Shawna:

information and start from there in your conversations with them.

Megan:

It is.

Megan:

Yes.

Megan:

I love tapping into a client's human design.

Megan:

That's always gonna be the first session we have the first thing we

Megan:

dive into, because then we can weave it through our entire coaching series.

Megan:

And like I was saying at the beginning, if a client's asking

Megan:

me, can I do this or can I be this?

Megan:

Or can I try this strategy?

Megan:

My answer's always gonna.

Megan:

Yes.

Megan:

Now let's find the most life affirming most easeful pathway for

Megan:

you to do so let's find how your energy wants to move with that idea.

Shawna:

Amazing, you haven't heard all the stuff, the background for this podcast,

Shawna:

but that's kind of the point is helping people find how to move with ease.

Shawna:

I love that you used that.

Shawna:

Cuz that was the word I was using before.

Shawna:

Cuz again, we wanna thrive.

Shawna:

But part of this is about the people we've had our challenges,

Shawna:

we've exercised our muscles.

Shawna:

We've shown we can get through the things, but we wanna get to a place where we

Shawna:

can stop pushing so hard and trying so hard and being up against things and to

Shawna:

kind of just move with things and have things fall into place a little bit more.

Shawna:

And this is about finding the path that is the right path, that things

Shawna:

are in alignment, and you're able to flow with ease into what you're

Shawna:

doing and what your goals are.

Shawna:

So that's really what this helps guide.

Megan:

Yeah, absolutely.

Megan:

It is truly magical to witness someone drop away from that conditioning, how

Megan:

they've been living through someone else's energy or through someone else's story

Megan:

and really fully embody their design.

Megan:

It's such a gift.

Megan:

And one of the biggest things that drew me into this system when I

Megan:

finally was like, okay, I'll look,

Shawna:

Yes.

Shawna:

So is everybody listening right now?

Shawna:

I'm sure somebody.

Shawna:

Um, somebody else's story.

Shawna:

Yeah.

Shawna:

Living in someone else's story.

Shawna:

I can totally identify with that.

Shawna:

In fact, I can hear that voice in my head right now of whose story I'm

Shawna:

living, that I didn't even realize I was living, cuz I'm so busy doing it.

Shawna:

I don't even realize where it's coming from.

Shawna:

Sometimes.

Shawna:

That's amazing.

Shawna:

So for you in your own life, do you have some examples of what blocks

Shawna:

you've been able to shift and move because you've been living in your

Shawna:

design and better understand that.

Megan:

Yeah, absolutely.

Megan:

So I can share a little bit about the five types in human

Megan:

design, which is that first layer.

Megan:

And that was really one of the first things that supported me to shift

Megan:

out of some of those stories and to get in alignment with my energy.

Megan:

So I found out I was a projector in human design and projectors are really known for

Megan:

being these guides, with like this bird's eye view perspective, and really here to

Megan:

offer that wisdom out in to the world.

Megan:

And they're also not here to do all the doing.

Megan:

So projectors are here to do their work in this block that

Megan:

feels really good for them.

Megan:

And then take rests, have spaciousness.

Megan:

For a projector.

Megan:

They're not meant to like, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go all the time.

Megan:

And for me coming home to that, knowing of how I was trying to go, go, go,

Megan:

go, go, go, go keep up in my business.

Megan:

Like keep trying all the new strategies and bouncing around to all these different

Megan:

things and like, oh, that strategy worked for this person, so I'm gonna try it too.

Megan:

And I have to go faster and hustle harder.

Megan:

And when I could finally let go of that and say, see how spaciousness

Megan:

actually was my going fast.

Megan:

How spaciousness actually created a fast pace for me.

Megan:

It really opened my eyes up to like a new way of expressing myself,

Megan:

particularly in my business, but it definitely showed up in other ways, too.

Shawna:

Oh, that's exciting.

Shawna:

So do you wanna talk more about the other four?

Megan:

Yeah.

Megan:

So we have our projectors, like I just shared guide birds eye view.

Megan:

They're called non-energy types.

Megan:

Don't love that language.

Megan:

Cuz a lot of people are often like when they find out I'm a projector, they're

Megan:

like you have so much energy and it's not so much about having no energy.

Megan:

It's just about knowing how to.

Shawna:

it?

Shawna:

Yes.

Megan:

And, knowing where it, where it's coming from in particular,

Shawna:

Mm.

Megan:

projectors can really, get energized from other people,

Megan:

places, spaces, opportunities.

Megan:

And so noticing when you're operating from like your aligned

Megan:

state versus like, oh, I'm just trying to operate like someone else.

Megan:

so Then we have our generators generators are really here to

Megan:

find the work they love doing.

Megan:

And fully love doing it.

Megan:

There is nothing like a generator who's fully lit up.

Megan:

And when a generator's fully lit up and satisfied with what they're doing, it

Megan:

gives energy to other people around them.

Megan:

And it also makes them super magnetic.

Megan:

So generators are really here to be these creative beings who do have the

Megan:

capacity to once they find their thing to like go and , please do not interrupt

Megan:

a generator when they are in their flow.

Megan:

Because that's a big, no go for them.

Megan:

Generators are really, they have this powerful internal, creative energy,

Megan:

and creative energy outside the box of anything, you know, about being creative.

Megan:

It's just doing what you love doing and being in that thing,

Megan:

that fully lights you up.

Megan:

Once you're in that flow, you are just in it.

Megan:

And so for a generator to feel like fully satisfied with the day that looks

Megan:

like using up their energy in a way that feels fully satisfying for them.

Megan:

And going to bed feeling like super complete and nourished with

Megan:

how they've used their energy.

Megan:

Yeah.

Shawna:

Oh, that's awesome.

Megan:

the type we think you are, will find out soon.

Shawna:

I was so intrigued.

Shawna:

especially cuz again, like the time that we had is like, it might be

Shawna:

the complete opposite, but that definitely sounds completely like me,

Shawna:

but then I'm like, spaciousness...

Shawna:

so yes.

Shawna:

I'm so curious.

Shawna:

Yes.

Shawna:

Keep going.

Shawna:

I wanna hear about rest of them

Megan:

yes.

Megan:

And you brought up a good point there, cuz like, yes, we all need spaciousness.

Megan:

We all need to be lit up.

Megan:

So if you're a projector and you're like, wait shouldn't I be lit up like

Megan:

it like a generator is yes, absolutely.

Megan:

And like generators who are like, wait, I need breaks and spaciousness.

Megan:

Absolutely.

Megan:

It's more about getting in alignment.

Megan:

Like for a generator.

Megan:

If you are not doing what lights you up, like majority percent

Megan:

of the time you're gonna drain that vital life force energy out.

Megan:

And we.

Megan:

Feel it like you can feel when a generator is not doing the things

Megan:

they love doing and it like closes off a little bit and you can feel

Megan:

when a projector is so drained out.

Megan:

So it's about getting to know your energy for sure.

Megan:

So next we have, manifesting generators.

Megan:

Manifesting generators are kind of like our multi-passionate people.

Megan:

They are like, they're fast movers, like our generators, and they're really

Megan:

finding clarity through their process.

Megan:

So once a manifesting generator finds, what their yes is,

Megan:

they're meant to go with that yes.

Megan:

And hold as many yeses as possible for them.

Megan:

So a lot of manifesting generators have been told their whole life

Megan:

that they're like flaky or frantic because they're going around, trying

Megan:

all the things and like doing a lot of different things all at once.

Megan:

And that is truly how their energy's meant to show up and shine.

Megan:

They are meant to hold as many yeses as possible for them and

Megan:

move with that process fast.

Megan:

Whenever I sit with a manifesting generator, I'm always.

Megan:

What are we doing?

Megan:

Where's the excitement?

Megan:

Like, what adventure are we going on?

Megan:

I can feel that buzz of, we're like doing things and we're doing them quick.

Shawna:

Yes.

Shawna:

And they're often told no, you need to focus here.

Shawna:

You need to go in just one direction.

Shawna:

You need to niche.

Shawna:

You need to just do this.

Shawna:

Stop trying to do all the things, just do this one thing, and that's

Shawna:

completely against the grain for them.

Shawna:

And that's so exciting for them to be validated on where their flow is.

Shawna:

That's exciting.

Megan:

Yeah.

Megan:

You like hit the nail on the head of all the stories that any manifesting generator

Megan:

I've ever sat with has been told.

Megan:

You need to find one thing, you need to find your one thing, whether it's

Megan:

when they're going through university and they're trying to find their major

Megan:

or like in business and they need to niche, like you're so spot on.

Megan:

And so letting go of that and just letting yourself operate in non-linear path is so

Megan:

important for the manifesting generator.

Megan:

Yeah.

Shawna:

It's so exciting for people to feel validated in

Shawna:

where they are and who they are.

Shawna:

Cuz there's so much against those things.

Shawna:

Keep going.

Shawna:

This is fun.

Shawna:

I like hearing about this.

Shawna:

Tell me more.

Megan:

We have two more types.

Megan:

So we have the manifestor manifestors are here to be bold unapologetic,

Megan:

and they're here to make impact manifests are here to initiate.

Megan:

So they really get the ball rolling for us.

Megan:

And they're here to like, bring these big ideas and new ways of doing things alive.

Megan:

And they don't necessarily love doing all the doing.

Megan:

They like to bring it alive and then it can be really supportive for them to

Megan:

have people who can support that process.

Megan:

But they're like here, they're ready to go and they're ready to do the thing.

Megan:

And their energy can feel quite intimidating to other people cuz they're

Megan:

quite protective with their energy.

Megan:

known for being lone wolfs.

Megan:

And that certainly doesn't mean that they don't need people in their life.

Megan:

, they just operate in a really like independent way.

Megan:

Like the manifestor child is the one who's left the building and

Megan:

you're like, where have they gone?

Megan:

What has happened?

Megan:

they're like, They are on the go.

Megan:

My brother, was a manifestor and it always cracks me up because he

Megan:

was almost born in a parking lot.

Megan:

And I feel like from the time of his birth, he was like,

Megan:

I am here and I ready to do

Shawna:

yes.

Shawna:

Try to keep up.

Shawna:

You do need to keep up though, but I'm going, so yes, keep up.

Shawna:

That's that's awesome.

Shawna:

And so that awareness that they do need people to help with some of the things

Shawna:

back here, but not telling them where to go and not directing them, but up so the,

Shawna:

all the things get done in that path.

Megan:

Yes.

Megan:

Yeah.

Megan:

Certainly control can be a huge like theme and shadow for them.

Megan:

Manifestor if they feel really controlled, they're likely gonna fall into this place

Megan:

of anger and feel like the world is just like constantly pushing against them.

Megan:

And another really important thing for a manifestor is to inform as they're going

Megan:

so that they can create some of that peace in their spaces and environments

Megan:

and opportunities that they're creating.

Megan:

So that we're all, not just like, where did they just go?

Megan:

Like what just happened?

Megan:

We're in the know.

Shawna:

Oh my gosh.

Shawna:

I think I, I'm not gonna start saying who I think I know like that, but I think that

Shawna:

I might know somebody's like that, so yes.

Shawna:

Okay.

Shawna:

Give us the, give us the fifth.

Megan:

Yep.

Megan:

The last type, these are our reflectors and reflectors actually

Megan:

only make up 1% of the population.

Megan:

So

Shawna:

Oh, wow.

Megan:

quite rare birds and they are very unique in their way

Megan:

that they express their energy.

Megan:

Reflectors are here to sample what's going on in the environment and

Megan:

then magnify and amplify it back out into the spaces that they're in.

Megan:

So reflectors are constantly like sampling what's going on around them.

Shawna:

Mm-hmm

Megan:

showing us from that place like what's happening.

Megan:

So reflectors can make really powerful and potent leaders simply

Megan:

by just being in their energy.

Megan:

You can see what's going on in the space, like what's happening in

Megan:

the environment that you're in.

Megan:

And they really can feel like all of the types , like one day might wake up

Megan:

and feel like a generator where they can just go one day, they might wake up

Megan:

and feel like a projector where they.

Megan:

Offer that guidance, they might wake up and feel like a manifesting generator

Megan:

where they like wanna try something new and see how the process goes.

Megan:

And so for the reflector, it's all about getting really present and

Megan:

letting your energy, ebb and flow.

Megan:

, reflectors can also be quite sensitive to what's going on

Megan:

because they are constantly like taking in that information.

Megan:

And so really noticing what's not theirs and being able to come to

Megan:

this grounded place within themselves.

Shawna:

Oh, wow.

Shawna:

That's intense.

Shawna:

And it's interesting to know that so few people have that, but that must be

Shawna:

a hard one for them to identify where they land, I feel like this, I feel

Shawna:

like this and trying to find their place,

Megan:

Yeah.

Megan:

I've been super honored to have a few reflector clients.

Megan:

I feel like I magnetize them in a little bit and I kind of love it

Megan:

cuz I learned so much from them.

Megan:

And they're always like very in tune with the collective and

Megan:

oftentimes they'll know things.

Megan:

And then they'll tell me about it.

Megan:

And then the next day they'll be like, you'll never.

Megan:

What email I just received.

Megan:

It said the exact thing that I told you yesterday, like they're very in tune.

Megan:

They're very connected and they have really brilliant wisdom to give us.

Shawna:

That's incredible.

Shawna:

And so then you also said that there's like 2 billion So then the five start

Shawna:

here and then tell me where it goes.

Shawna:

Tell me more about that.

Megan:

Yes.

Megan:

So there are 2 billion different human design configurations.

Megan:

So when you pull your human design chart, what you're gonna see is

Megan:

this body that has shapes and lines and colors, and you're gonna

Megan:

be like, what is happening here?

Megan:

So this is where.

Megan:

All of the different layers come in and where all of the different, like 2

Megan:

billion different configurations come in, because yes, we have these energy

Megan:

types and you're more than just one type.

Megan:

So along with your type, you'll have a strategy, which is your

Megan:

way of moving with life with the least amount of resistance.

Megan:

You have your authority, which is how you make decisions with

Megan:

the least amount of resistance.

Megan:

You have your profile, which is kind of like a costume to your purpose.

Megan:

You have all of the shapes.

Megan:

These are your centers and that's how your energy flows through your body.

Megan:

All of the lines are your innate strengths.

Megan:

So there's all these layers.

Megan:

So even if let's say you are a generator and you meet another generator, you

Megan:

two, aren't going to be the same or express that generator energy in the

Megan:

same way, because you might have a different authority or a different

Megan:

profile or different ways that the energy flows throughout your body.

Megan:

And so it's, it's layers, it's layers and layers and the human

Megan:

design rabbit hole never ends.

Megan:

Still learning things.

Megan:

So there's just layers of information and contrast that goes into it all.

Megan:

And you know, my biggest tip is if you're stepping into human design is

Megan:

like start one layer at a time, like really get to know your type and then

Megan:

go into the next layer and see how that lands and feels with you, and really

Megan:

integrated into your life as you go.

Shawna:

That's wonderful.

Shawna:

Can you give us a story, like one of your clients about how this has supported.

Shawna:

Them to be able to realize, to live with your purpose instead of it

Shawna:

being like this outside thing, that is something that is integrated.

Shawna:

So can you talk more about how your clients are able to use this

Shawna:

knowledge and information in their work with you to be able to do.

Megan:

Yeah, absolutely.

Megan:

I mean, to me, it's all about going through that deconditioning process,

Megan:

like noticing how you've been living against your design, how you've

Megan:

been creating friction in your life.

Megan:

And you've been trying to operate in a way that isn't actually

Megan:

your energetic operating system.

Megan:

Honestly the client that comes up is actually a reflector client.

Megan:

Learning that she was a reflector and learning that she had such

Megan:

unique energy made so much sense.

Megan:

It was like, everything clicked of like, oh, that's why my

Megan:

career path has felt so hard.

Megan:

That's why it felt so hard to find my footing, my place in school,

Megan:

like what I wanted to do in life, because when we could really come

Megan:

down to the lesson of you're meant to sample, you're meant to be fluid.

Megan:

You're meant to try different things and like, let life be a buffet.

Megan:

And you're tasting through the entire experience.

Megan:

And so giving herself permission to let go of being the one thing and like

Megan:

being so masterful at the one thing and giving herself permission to.

Megan:

Be fluid in what she was doing to experiment with different careers and

Megan:

like, see like, okay, let me try this out.

Megan:

See how it feels.

Megan:

Okay.

Megan:

That, that doesn't actually feel so good.

Megan:

Okay.

Megan:

Let me try this and letting that be okay.

Megan:

And not making that mean that she was quitting or that she hadn't come to

Megan:

completion was such a gift to witness and.

Megan:

To such a good expression of what it means to come home.

Megan:

She always wanted to do that, but it was letting go of those stories

Megan:

around what it means if you, give up on a career, what it means to close

Megan:

a chapter and let herself just be in that space of like, I just wanna

Megan:

be present and sample along the way.

Shawna:

Yes to get rid of the voices and start letting yourself

Shawna:

start with a fresh slate.

Megan:

yes.

Shawna:

That's so exciting.

Shawna:

And so you mentioned your brother and his design, which was his design.

Shawna:

Was he the manifestor the, okay.

Shawna:

Yes, the manifestor.

Shawna:

you've mentioned that you lost your brother.

Shawna:

Were you able to find his tight before you lost him or just

Shawna:

something you realized after.

Megan:

It was after.

Megan:

And it was actually one of the things that really drew me into human design.

Megan:

Like I felt the nudge, the nudge was okay, I'm gonna look at it.

Megan:

I'm gonna look at my own type, like great.

Megan:

Okay.

Megan:

Yeah.

Megan:

I'm starting to see these things within me.

Megan:

Things started to click within my own design.

Megan:

And then one day I texted my mom and I was like, Hey, what's

Megan:

Kirk's birthday time and location.

Megan:

She sent it over to me and I pulled his chart.

Megan:

And it was like seeing all of the gifts that he left

Shawna:

Mmm.

Megan:

with and like this knowing of oh, he lived his purpose, like every

Megan:

ounce and seeing it there, like seeing from him being a manifestor and like

Megan:

just doing the things like he did things like he randomly moved off to Spain and

Megan:

he was working at this coffee shop one time and just , decided I'm gonna close

Megan:

early and just paint the walls for them.

Megan:

he was always just.

Megan:

Doing these things.

Megan:

So like everything from that, and then seeing these contrasts within

Megan:

his strengths, like, learning and mastering, like science and

Megan:

different studies like that.

Megan:

And he was a physics major, but he also had these strengths in art and creativity

Megan:

and his minor was in photography.

Megan:

And so it was seeing all of these contrasts and ways that he lived and

Megan:

knowing like, oh, he lived all of that.

Megan:

What a gift.

Megan:

And now

Shawna:

Mm-hmm

Megan:

I see someone post a story about him on Facebook, or someone share an old

Megan:

photo or video of him, I just, I know he lived his design and I know that's the

Megan:

greatest gift you can leave on this earth.

Shawna:

That is amazing and what a great way to be connected to it,

Shawna:

to understand to see it magnified through someone you cared about.

Shawna:

And to know that they lived their purpose, cuz they were able to, do

Shawna:

those things in all those ways that were such an example of how they

Shawna:

were living that and being that.

Shawna:

I like that story.

Shawna:

so You have this exciting opportunity, that is coming up for you, with

Shawna:

your clients and the work you do.

Shawna:

Tell us more about that.

Megan:

Yeah.

Megan:

I've just opened up the doors to this super special program Rooted and

Megan:

Wild, which actually came alive back.

Megan:

In 2018 after I lost my brother, I was like navigating all many different things

Shawna:

Mm-hmm

Megan:

does it just surfaces up many emotions and memories and

Megan:

feelings and all of the things.

Megan:

And, uh, at the time I was living on another one way ticket at the

Megan:

time I was living in Thailand and.

Megan:

When he passed, I decided to get, grounded, get roots

Megan:

if you will, and get a home.

Megan:

And I was navigating all these stories like, oh, I failed.

Megan:

I failed the one way ticket trip.

Megan:

It wasn't supposed to be like this, you know, one day someone asked me,

Megan:

like, what does home mean to you?

Megan:

And it just came out.

Megan:

Like home sometimes is rooted and sometimes it's wild.

Megan:

And that's when this program started coming alive because

Megan:

I was like, oh, that's it.

Megan:

You have to know when you're being called to be rooted.

Megan:

And when you're being called to live wild and give yourself permission to

Megan:

not make that mean anything, and just let yourself live, let yourself live

Megan:

in both rooted ways and wild ways.

Megan:

And so this program came alive, um, and I'm very excited in 2022.

Megan:

It is now out into the world.

Shawna:

That is incredible.

Shawna:

And those, they take time.

Shawna:

Those things have to grow and get to the place where they can just

Shawna:

come to be in that level., I love the title and I love how much it reflects

Shawna:

the way you've lived your life.

Shawna:

To some extent, it sounds like the way your brother lived

Shawna:

his life as well, that he had

Shawna:

his moments where he was able to do both of those things also.

Shawna:

How can people connect with you and get connected to this?

Megan:

You can find me pretty much anywhere online with my name, Megan

Megan:

Seamans @MeganSeamans on Instagram.

Megan:

My website's MeganSeamans.com.

Megan:

So you can find me there.

Megan:

Instagram's my favorite place to hang out.

Megan:

So you can always find me sharing on stories and reels and, lots of fun tips

Megan:

and tricks, and you can find info for rooted and wild over there as well.

Shawna:

Ooh.

Shawna:

So we get to follow you on your adventures.

Megan:

Yes,

Shawna:

I love that.

Shawna:

I love that.

Shawna:

And we'll definitely have that in the show notes to make that easy

Shawna:

for you guys to find her as well.

Shawna:

And it's Seamans with an S at the end, too, the other thing that

Shawna:

we also talk about on our show is self care, cuz we care about that.

Shawna:

So what are some things that you do to take care of yourself?

Megan:

Hmm.

Megan:

I love this question.

Megan:

Selfcare is so important.

Megan:

Uh, oh my goodness.

Megan:

Let me give you a list of like a hundred things.

Megan:

No.

Shawna:

That works.

Shawna:

That works.

Shawna:

People need examples, cuz honestly it's something hard to fit in sometimes.

Shawna:

And so a hundred examples is a good thing.

Megan:

I love it.

Megan:

So my personal favorite self care is always gonna be getting outside in nature.

Megan:

Like it is incredible what, even just stepping outside barefoot, putting my

Megan:

feet in the grass for like 30 seconds can do that is always gonna be my all time.

Megan:

Favorite self care.

Megan:

I would say one of my other favorite self cares is working with the

Megan:

coach, working with someone who can give me outside perspective.

Megan:

I always feel good after a good coaching session and knowing

Megan:

like, oh, okay, I can do this.

Shawna:

Yes.

Shawna:

I don't think people recognize enough of doing that.

Shawna:

Like when I talk to my friends about finding a therapist, finding

Shawna:

a coach, finding that support, that really is "me" time that is you

Shawna:

taking care of yourself and nurturing yourself to give yourself that space.

Shawna:

Cuz we all have things to navigate and finding and

Shawna:

finding the time to quiet down.

Shawna:

If you have the discipline to do that on your own, that is amazing.

Shawna:

but it's, if you have a dedicated time each week or once a month, or whenever

Shawna:

you have that space to sit with somebody and do that reflection and do that,

Shawna:

adjusting your compass and, and having that focus and diving deep, that's an

Shawna:

amazing thing to be able to make time for.

Shawna:

So that's, that's incredible.

Shawna:

That's a great one.

Shawna:

Awesome.

Shawna:

Give us, give us one more.

Shawna:

Give us one.

Megan:

One more, one more.

Megan:

Let's see, I'll say another favorite self care is following my threads of joy.

Megan:

So sometimes that's gonna look like, you know, meditating for a bit and

Megan:

sometimes that's gonna look like going out to get my favorite donut.

Megan:

But whatever that thread of joy is for me in the moment

Megan:

is always gonna be self care.

Shawna:

I like it.

Shawna:

I like joy.

Shawna:

We like joy.

Shawna:

We like being in the moment.

Shawna:

That's

Shawna:

awesome.

Shawna:

So one things that we have, we actually have coloring books

Shawna:

that we offer that we sell.

Shawna:

And part of that is for folks to have something they can use to have

Shawna:

those little moments of self care.

Shawna:

And we.

Shawna:

All of our guests, a free coloring book.

Shawna:

Yay.

Shawna:

So since you travelling internationally, we're gonna send you the PDF copy.

Shawna:

And then when you get back stateside, you can always say, Shawna, send

Shawna:

me the physical copy and I sure

Shawna:

will.

Shawna:

But Would you like the Vintage Mermaid and Magnificent Ocean or the You've Got

Shawna:

This with funny inspirational quote?

Megan:

I'm gonna take vintage mermaid.

Shawna:

Awesome.

Shawna:

Well, I am definitely making note of that and we will send that

Shawna:

to you and you'll have to let us know what you think about that.

Megan:

This is so fun.

Megan:

I've never received a gift on a podcast.

Megan:

And I feel like I just wanna like cue confetti

Shawna:

I still remember when I lived in Boston, I used to

Shawna:

do workshops for families and for teachers and for different things.

Shawna:

And the first time I did one and they gave me a gift card to Barnes and noble,

Shawna:

it might have been for $10, but the first time they gave me a little, thank

Shawna:

you like that, I was over the moon.

Shawna:

I know they paid my agency.

Shawna:

That was my job.

Shawna:

Right.

Shawna:

And I got paid to go to these things.

Shawna:

But the first time I got a little thank you.

Shawna:

That was like, oh, so thank yous are.

Shawna:

I love thank yous and you're not getting paid to be here.

Shawna:

So you should at least get a thank you.

Shawna:

Right?

Megan:

oh my goodness.

Megan:

Yeah, this is so exciting.

Megan:

I literally feel like, Ugh, I, everyone go celebrate someone today

Megan:

because it is the best feeling.

Shawna:

the best feeling.

Shawna:

We'll take it, we'll take it.

Shawna:

And the big thing we like to do for all of our audience too, is

Shawna:

to give them something actionable that they can walk away with.

Shawna:

And so is there a way that people can find out what their human design is?

Shawna:

Is there some little piece of information they can take away from today that

Shawna:

they can go implement tomorrow or this afternoon into their lives?

Shawna:

Tell us.

Megan:

Yeah, absolutely.

Megan:

So you can get your human design online for free.

Megan:

You can literally just look up human design chart and you'll

Megan:

find several different places.

Megan:

You can input your birthday time and location, and you'll see your.

Megan:

Energy type, like the five types we talked about today, you'll see that, in writing.

Megan:

So you won't have to like decipher anything or anything like that.

Megan:

So you can pull that and start to integrate some of the things

Megan:

you heard in this episode today.

Megan:

And also I would encourage you to journal around what in your life

Megan:

feels like friction and what feels.

Megan:

Fun.

Megan:

So you're starting to kind of take that inventory of where am I using

Megan:

my energy in the most aligned way.

Megan:

And where am I maybe perhaps draining it out?

Shawna:

Oh, I love that.

Shawna:

All right.

Shawna:

So journaling, finding friction, finding fun, getting a little

Shawna:

more of that alignment.

Shawna:

And then it is that simple that once you know the words, human

Shawna:

design, you can just Google.

Shawna:

and go find your human design type.

Shawna:

You do need to know your birth time.

Shawna:

So strangely, if you're like me and you don't know that, and I don't have a mom

Shawna:

to easily ask, she's no longer with us.

Shawna:

So hopefully you have someone you can ask who knows easily, I'm gonna be

Shawna:

impressed with my dad knows I'm still.

Shawna:

I think even once I find it, I on my birth certificate, I'm still gonna.

Shawna:

Dad, do you know what time I was born?

Shawna:

He has four kids.

Shawna:

So I'm really gonna be surprised if he even knows if it's morning or night

Megan:

Yeah.

Shawna:

but he, he pro he probably does.

Shawna:

And then also looks silly, cuz I was surprised.

Megan:

And may I offer one more tip for your audience if they

Megan:

don't know the time of birth?

Megan:

Okay, cool.

Megan:

so if you don't know your time of birth and you're like, ah, I

Megan:

can't find it like, um, of course.

Megan:

Yeah.

Megan:

Look, see if you can get your birth certificate, there are public records.

Megan:

Like if you call your hospital, you were born out, so you absolutely can do that.

Megan:

You can also just sit with someone who knows human design and you can.

Megan:

Input different times of the day and see what lands with you, because at the end of

Megan:

the day, human design is coming back home to you and you're gonna know your way.

Megan:

So I will not be surprised if you were spot on and knew

Megan:

exactly what your type was.

Megan:

But yeah, you can sit with someone who does know human design and

Megan:

they can tell you like, oh, if it's this time, then this changes.

Megan:

If it's this time, then this changes.

Shawna:

Oh, nice.

Shawna:

Those tricky, tricky little lines.

Shawna:

That was wonderful.

Shawna:

So thank you so much, Megan.

Shawna:

This has been amazing.

Shawna:

It was a delightful to meet you.

Shawna:

And I think we've all learned a lot today, which has been wonderful.

Shawna:

Thanks for being here, Megan,

Megan:

Thank you so much.

Megan:

I'm so grateful

Shawna:

for the rest of you take care of you.

Shawna:

You're the only one of you that this world has got, and that means something
